Life & Style reported today that after just a few months together, Hills climber Lauren Conrad and Dancing with the Stars floor stomper Derek Hough have called off their casual romance. A friend of Conrad's said, "Their relationship reached its peak. It was always casual."

A second friend confirmed the casualness saying, "She had fun with Derek. He used to send her cute texts and sing to her, but she always kept her options open."

A third source drove the nail into the casual coffin, commenting on Conrad's breakup with boyfriend of three years Kyle Howard, reporting that, "This was a rebound that wasn't going to last. Derek never thought it would either."
