To hide his relationship to uncle Francis Ford Coppola and avoid the appearance of nepotism, Cage change his name from Nicholas Coppola at the start of his career. That didn't stop him from appearing in uncle's Rumble Fish after landing his signature drowsy-eyed role in 1983's Valley Girl.
